the crowds, yet very convenient to Playa Hermosa and Playa Coco beaches. These towns also offer

Costa Rica People
Costa Ricans (ticos and ticas) are friendly, fun-loving and family oriented people. They are full of
hospitality and jump at the chance to dance and celebrate life. The amazing natural beauty and diverse
landscapes of Costa Rica, coupled with its people, makes it a perfect vacation destination. Costa Rica society is well educated and boasts a 93% literacy rate. While the official language is Spanish,
you will find that many of the local people, especially those in the service industry, are fluent in English. The capital city is San Jose and it is the cultural center with a growing venue of theater, opera,
symphony and art.
Weather
Guanacaste's climate and culture are unique among Costa Rican provinces The province experiences
little rain, with tropical dry weather from November to April. Tourists seek out this dry heat during the
North American winter to enjoy the breathtaking beaches, vegetation and wildlife.
The "Arbol de Guanacaste" is a national simbol (pictured).
Entertainment
Playa del Coco (10 minutes drive) is a fishing village turned beach resort, about 35 minutes from Liberia
International Airport. It is one of Northern Guanacaste's most celebrated dive and snorkeling areas, and
many local tour operators have set up shop´s here. Sailboat snorkeling cruises, color-filled open water
dives, and PADI certification courses are given daily, and serious divers will be pleased by the Pacific
Coast offerings. Tropical favorites like puffer fish, eels, stingrays and dolphins swim these waters, and
many people say that Coco Beach is home to the best diving in Costa Rica. It is also an excellent place to
charter a boat for sport fishing for world class sailfish, marlin and rooster fish. There are also many bars
and restaurants popular with young Ticos and visitors alike, along with many shops offering souvenirs
and items crafted by local artisans.
Play Hermosa (2 minuute drive) means "Beautiful Beach" in Spanish. It has made a name for itself with its
idyllic beauty and lush surroundings. There is a two kilometer long gray sand beach enriched by tropical
forests and ridges of volcanic rock.
The beach is relaxed and rarely crowded, making it the perfect retreat for those who wish to just lie back
leisurely and enjoy the sun. Take advantage of the year-round warm water temperature for swimming,
snorkeling and scuba diving. You can also rent kayaks, sailboards, canoes and jet skis from the many
shops that line the beach. Local tourist companies also offer organized fishing trips as well as catamaran
rides along the Hermosa coast for those who prefer a more tranquil holiday. I
Several tour operators are available in the area. One of the most recommended is SunnySide
